Pioneer Youth Wrestling officially kicked off their season with a double header this past weekend.
The club traveled to the 8th Annual Andy Leder Memorial Novice Tournament in Salamanca which is for first and second year wrestlers. The novice wrestlers put on a great showing and shows a bright future for the club.
The more experienced wrestlers took a trip to the 37th Annual Canisteo Wrestling Tournament. With 445 wrestlers registered wrestlers this is one of the biggest and toughest “in season” tournaments of the year. P.Y.W. had a great showing with 3 first place finishers.
Evan “Big E” Heckathorn, “The Boss Man” Bostyn Hackett and Evan “Little E” Wright lead the way with 11 combined pins between them to all bring home a first place finish.
Xander Kirsch and Owen Bliss were runner-ups in their divisions.
Dakota Krygier and Coldyn Hackett took home third place finishes.
Carson Bliss, Trig Noel, and Brady Heckathorn wrestled for a tough fourth place finish in their respective divisions.
This upcoming weekend P.Y.W. will be heading to the 5th Annual Lancaster Youth Wrestling Tournament with both the novice and experienced wrestlers
